Mark recently worked for McKinsey for 10 years and has over 25 years of consulting experience with a major focus on implementing operational business improvement including both opportunity assessment/ diagnostic and implementation. He has led transformation programs across multiple industry sectors, including Mining, Transport (rail and trucking), Energy, Steel, Manufacturing, Chemicals, IT Services and Financial Services and multiple functions including production, maintenance and procurement.

Passionate about building capabilities and improving business performance to deliver tangible impact.

Strong interest in all things digital including start-ups and applying advanced analytics to industry.

Prior to joining McKinsey, Mark worked primarily in implementation consulting in private equity and for Partners in Performance in steel, cement, IT services, leading turnarounds in trucking and managing mergers (integration manager).

He also previously worked for 6 years for Booz Allen in the Operations Management Group.

Mark has worked in Australia, UK, US and most of North Western Europe.

  • Led multiple teams in a mining lean transformation program including maintenance and truck & shovel operations with focus on improving frontline capabilities and supported program set-up including defining the lean 'Manufacturing Mindset’ and Standardised Work program
  • Supported rail operator executive team in developing 5 year strategic plan
  • Led a successful advanced analytics proof of concept project to improve plant concentrator output
  • Led the implementation of a performance management program for a Coal Seam Gas construction project across multiple sites accelerating progress and ensuring ‘First Dewatering’ schedule was met
  • Led a manufacturing lean diagnostic with focus on OEE and quality/waste
  • Managed the end-to-end merger of two insurance companies as Integration Manager
  • Created a ‘playbook’ to lift truck & shovel operating hours and provided implementation support at pilot sites
  • Set-up and implemented a procurement savings program for a rail company and built procurement capability within the company
  • Led an operations diagnostic for an Indonesian coal mining transformation across 3 sites (production and maintenance)
  • Set-up a Business Improvement program to improve productivity for an Australian Energy Distributor
  • Managed a turnaround for an Australian trucking company moving the operation back into profitability
